Nice toy but way overpriced!

| I can't rate how long it will last as it was recently purchased. Also received in white not as pictured in blue. I paid full price of $[...]. which I find way overpriced for what it is. I must say I was very dissapointed in the item for the price. The kids enjoyed it and I hope they will be able to use it for many years. |

Wonderful learning experience
My daughter simply loves the Explorer Smart Globe. I cannot express how pleased I am that she is having so much fun while learning. |
Broke with light use

| My kids didn't find this as enjoyable as I hoped. They are both avid learners but this just didn't have much entertainment value. Within one year, the tip of the pen broke off and now the toy is useless. I keep it around for occasional use until we buy a "dumb" globe :) |
Still the best talking globe out there

This is still the best talking globe out there. It is a great investment in your child's education, and it's an incredibly useful reference. It is a very well thought out design, with something to learn for various levels of geographical knowledge. I enjoy playing the Eureka mode, which is a game for finding places on the globe. I love that it gives you smart clues that help you when you're stumped, but doesn't just give the answer away. I love that you can switch it to continents, countries, or states and provinces (but of course as an American, what do I care about Canadian provinces, eh?? hehe). It has a nice collection of interesting facts about each location to explore, and this toy has captured the attention of every person, child or adult, that I have ever shown it to.
As for durability, I bought ours 12/2005, and it's still going 3/2010. I don't let the kids (my two boys are 3 and 9 now) throw it around, but it has cracked open slightly once around the equator, and my boyfriend gently put it back together. The stylus sometimes goes haywire if you touch it to your hand or other things it's not meant to point to, but we find if we have good batteries and just push the on button to reset, it generally works fine. |
OVERPRICED!

| This product is great- we've had it for years, but I paid $49 new from Toys -r- Us. I think it sold for about $99 at the time. It is worth about $50- certainly not the $250+ CRAZY! |
Pen problems

| We also noticed pen problems. It works about 2/3 of the time. It's quite annoying. Otherwise the toy is great fun for a child, and LOTS of fun for an adult as well. |
Great toy, but not worth $245!!!

| This is a great toy, but I cannot believe they are trying to sell it for $245!!! It would have to do a lot more than it does and give you a lot more information about each continent, country, etc for it to be worth even half that much! I say it is worth about $50, maybe up to $75 at the most!! The main value of it is in helping kids and adults be able to quickly identify and know off the top of their heads where countries and capitals are. I like it, but would not recommend it at the price they are selling it for. |

| This is my second leapfrog globe, the first for my grandson, and this one for me. I like to keep a globe about, and figured I could use the extra info, the elevations and populations and etc. It's fun. |
My kids loved this when they were younger and still play with it in high school!

| My kids love this globe.I purchased it when they were in elementary school and they still use it at high school age. They enjoy the timed tests to find counties on the globe. They still compete to see who can do the best. |
Stopped working after 3 months!

We purchased this globe, and for the first couple of months it worked perfectly. But then, problems started creeping up... we had to press the stylus really hard against the globe for it to work. A few days later, it died completely. Replacing batteries didn't help either.
While this is an excellent educational product for kids, I would not recommend this globe to anyone due to it's quality (or lack thereof) and durability. |

| Within the first 10 minutes the globe split into half. Realignment was a challenge - you can imagine how accurate the selection is when the equator is off by 1/32". No problem though as the pen fell off the next day anyway. Don't waste your money on this poorly manufactured product. |
Sad - We owned 4 of them

The 4 new globes came defective and all needed replacement batteries. One globe worked for almost 30 days... when we went to return it to Amazon we were charged a 20% restocking fee. These globes are very good if they work! Leap Frog has stopped making them and I wonder why?
I would look at the Oregon Scientific model even for a child... This globe is a waist of $ based on quality. |
Not Happy 1

Basically it didn't work. The stylus worked about 80% of the time the first day, about 40% the second day and it did not work at all the third day. |

| This globe was not purchased for a child, it was given to an older adult. I have always been fascinated with globes, so when it went on super sale at Amazon, my daughter purchased it for me for Christmas. I was horrible in geography, and when the news would come on about different countries, I could never picture where it was happening. Now, I can follow the news, find the location, and information about the country. I even used it to help my granddaughter with a geography question, I just pulled out the globe and we spent half an hour learning together. |
Smart Globe was a big hit

This was a gift for my 4 year old. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he replied a globe. He has played with this over and over and since it is so interactive, it can be used for years to come. Right now he just touches a continent and then repeats what the globe tells him. He is learning the continents at school as well so this is the perfect home "lesson" to help out at school too.
I would reccomend this to anyone! We love it.

Learning Made Fun!

| I purchased a Leapfrog SmartGlobe for my 3 1/2-yr-old grandson for Christmas. He is a bright little guy who loves to learn and had already learned most of the states and their capitals. He loved the globe, as did the other grandkids! My daughter told me in January that the globe was his favorite toy and he would sit and play with it for hours! So I had another grandson turning 5 in February who also loves this sort of thing...maps, moon & stars, etc....so I ordered one for him for his birthday. My daughter-in-law assures me that he loves his and is learning about other countries. He has a gift for music and especially likes the 'music' feature on the globe. I would recommend this for any child who likes to learn, no matter the age. They are never too young to learn, and to know that learning can be fun! |
Great educational toy

Santa brought this toy for Christmas for my twins who are 6 1/2 yrs old. My son was already very interested in different countries & the states but now has gone crazy & literally plays with it every single day. He already knows where more countries are than I do by far. His favorite part is the music that plays for each country - he will tell us his favorite musics all the time. My daughter enjoys it too.
I was however very disappointed at first. The pen broke within 2 days from Christmas - and my kids are not rough with their toys at all. I called the Leapfrog c/s & left messages ordering 2 new ones ( one I had to pay for & 1 was free after I mailed in the broken one) but it took almost a month to get them here. I called & was told they were on back order but in the meantime my kids could not play with their new toy from Santa all Christmas break. The new pen has been fine so far ( going on a month now) so I do feel better about the product now but I can tell you I was mad about it until we got the replacement & I see how much my kids love this toy. |

| My daughter is a bit young for this toy, but I couldn't resist the great price. My husband and I "tested" it out, and we really enjoyed the globe ourselves! This will be great family time fun and it is truly educational for all ages, even adults. |
Fun for kids and adults!

| This is a fun globe for kids who are just learning or want to learn about geography. There are many different learning options about all the different countries for any age. My son really liked how you could hear samples of music for the different countries. The globe does seem to be a bit on the poor side of construction, but overall, my son likes to play with it. |
